PTA Committee Volunteers

Many PTA Committees are looking for help. If you might be interested in volunteering your time to help with one or more of the committees listed below, please print out and complete the Committee Volunteer Form and return it to your child’s teacher, the school office or the PTA mailbox. THANKS!

For current committee members who need to request reimbursement for, or request a vendor be paid directly for a PTA approved purchase, please complete the Request for Reimbursement/Vendor Check form and return it to PTA Treasurer Lisa Witt. THANKS!

Adopt-A-Staff

This is a great way to show your appreciation to a MAES or Parr’s Ridge staff member. Upon request, you can be assigned a staff member to send small mementos throughout the school year. After School Clubs
An effort is being made to expand our After School Clubs for the students. If you have a special interest in geography, art, science, reading, etc., please let us know and we will assist in making that a club for our students.
Bridge The Gap Books
Karen Freed
Bridge the Gap Books are grade-appropriate summer workbooks. The books are designed to introduce some of the curriculum for the following school year and keep the previous year's material fresh in the children's minds. The books are a fun tool for students to review over the summer. Please visit the Bridge The Gap page for more information.
Market Day

Market Day is a fund-raiser for the schools that runs throughout the school year. It is a food service company that provides restaurant quality foods from companies such as Tyson's, Kraft and Campbell's. Families will have an opportunity to order food items each month beginning in September. Our schools earn a minimum of 10% of your Market Day Purchase. This is an easy way for parents to support our schools and purchase quality food for their family! Visit the Fundraisers page for more information.
Membership

Our Membership Committee organizes our annual PTA membership drive beginning at Back to School Night. This committee also produces our Directory of PTA members, published in November.
Newsletter

The "MAP" is a monthly publication from the PTA. It keeps parents, teachers and students informed of current PTA events, community activities, helpful hints and legislative issues at the local, state and national levels.
Reading Incentive Program

To encourage students to become better readers, this six-month program allows students to earn credit for reading. Those who meet monthly goals receive certificates that can be used to get Pizza Hut pizza and additional books. Volunteers are needed to help tally reading calendars, issue Pizza Hut coupons and distribute books. Please visit the Reading Incentive Program page for more information about the program.
Labels, Box Tops, and other Corporate Programs

Receipts from grocery stores, Target, AT&T points, Campbell’s Soup labels and General Mills Box Tops are collected, counted and mailed to the appropriate company for cash or educational equipment. They can always use help in cutting and counting those soup labels and box tops! Check out the Fundraisers page for information on these and other fundraising activities.
Morning Running Program

The physical well being of our students is also a priority at our schools. This program is designed for students to run/walk every week. . Find out more about Morning Running at Parrs. Unfortunately, due to the Middle School construction, the Morning Running at MAES for this year had to be suspended, but look for it again once construction is finished.
No-Bake Bake Sale

Science Fair

This is our most popular academic after school event. Held after the winter break, the science fair encourages students and families to express their love and interest for science in a non-competitive environment. All students as well as class projects are invited to participate in the science fair. Help is needed with publicity, setup and cleanup, poster contest, and trivia questions.

(Additional Chairpersons needed!!)Our various Social Committees sponsor fun events for the entire family. Because the fields are gone, there won't be an Ice Cream Social this year (but on the plus side, we get a new Middle School!) Other fun events have included a Fall Social, Family Bingo Night and Luau Night.
Sunshine Club
PTA Executive Board
The Sunshine Club is the PTA’s way of sharing the faculty and staff’s moments of joy and sadness. We provide an appropriate gift, donation or card at that time.
Teacher Appreciation Week

Each May, we honor our teachers with a week-long celebration. We host a sweet treats day and a faculty luncheon. Daily drawings as well as special “goodies” are provided for the teachers throughout the week. Families are encouraged to contribute for the sweet treats and the luncheon.
