Fundraisers
Why Do We Need Fundraisers?
The PTA supports a great number of programs within our schools. We know times are tough for everyone but as budgets get squeezed throughout the school district, it is more important than ever that we pitch in to support our schools
PTA funds are used for many activities including:
- Teacher requests for classroom supplies and equipment (teacher materials, projectors, digi-blocks math tools, special ed. equipment, replacing broken or unsafe playground equipment)
- Field trip assistance funding (the PTA partially funds all trips to decrease cost per student)
- Reading incentive program (the PTA purchases scholastic books for each student that completes the monthly reading calendar)
- Music program support
- Bridge The Gap books, Brain Pop, BARE Books and Weekly Readers (the PTA fully funds these programs)
- Cultural and Educational Programs (Johns Hopkins Science Show, traveling planetarium, visiting authors, Blue Sky Puppet Theater and many more)
- Science Fair
- Fun stuff (including morning running, play day, 5th grade celebration, after school clubs and more)
No-Bake Bake Sale
The "No-Bake Bake Sale" is to be the PTA's ONLY annual school-wide fundraiser for the 2011-12 year.
A bit of news we have today
A No-Bake Bake Sale is on the way.
These busy days, who has the time to bake
Pies, cookies, or even a cake?
You’d be surprised if you counted the cost,
of ingredients, heat, and the time you’ve lost.
Baking for sales is extra work.
Yet nobody really wants to shirk.
We’ve got a new plan that we think is quite grand,
And feel quite sure that you’ll understand.
On a check (or on-line) please put the price
Of a pie and a cake or something else nice.
No fuss or bother, you've done your part,
We hope you’ll give with a willing heart.
This is the end of our little tale,
Thanks for your help with our
NO-BAKE BAKE SALE!
Even though this fundraiser has a lighthearted name and theme, we are faced with the serious goal of sustaining school programs and staff support that would otherwise be cut due to budget reductions.
OUR GOAL: 1000 STUDENTS RAISING $50,000
100% PROFIT!
Dates: September 17 - October 6
Visit the No-Bake Bake Sale Page for more information!.
Market Day
While we intend for the No-Bake Bake Sale to provide the bulk of our PTA Fundraising for the year, many families have expressed interest in keeping Market Day available because they enjoy the service!
Market Day is a food service company that provides restaurant quality foods from companies such as Tyson's, Kraft and Campbell's. Families will have an opportunity to order food items each month beginning in September. Our school earns a minimum of 10% of your Market Day Purchase. This is an easy way for parents to support our school and purchase quality food for their family!
Your family will receive a Market Day flyer each month. The due date for orders, and the date for pick-up, appear on the back of the flyer. You may also order on-line at www.marketday.com.
If you have questions, please contact Kathy Seymour or Virginia John.
Soup Labels and Box Tops
All year long, we collect Campbell Labels and General Mills Box Tops. The program is a great way to earn FREE educational equipment for our school. Box Tops are found on hundreds of General Mills products throughout the grocery store. You just clip them and turn them in at school. General Mills will send our school a check worth 10 cents for each Box Tops coupon redeemed!
The Box Tops program covers much more than just cereals. The list is often updated, so be on the lookout for the Box Tops symbol. Some participating products include:
- General Mills Cereals
- Old El Paso
- Yoplait Yogurts
- Pillsbury products
- Chex morning Mix
- Betty Crocker products
- Gold Medal flour
- Green Giant frozen vegetables
- Totino's Party Pizza/snacks
- Lloyd's Barbeque
- Hungry Jack
- Bisquick Baking Mix
For more information about the Box Tops program, visit boxtops4education.comboxtops4education.com. At this web site you can also find information on the two other ways to earn cash for our school: on line shopping and the “Box Top” Visa card. This site also has the Complete list of participating products
Campbell’s has made it easier for our schools to reach our collection goals with over 150 products now worth 5 points! Also, the new collection process makes it even easier to redeem merchandise. Visit Labels for Education for complete list of products and point values. Participating in the program is easy — simply save proofs of purchase from participating Campbells products and send them to our school. Some of the products eligible for redemption in the program include:
- Campbell's soups
- Campbell's or Franco-American SpaghettiOs pasta
- Campbell's beans, gravies, and canned pasta
- Prego pasta sauces
- Swanson broths and canned poultry
- Campbell's tomato juice
- Pepperidge Farm breads, cookies, crackers, and frozen products
- Campbell's Foodservice products
- V8 Splash Beverages
Campbell’s is no longer accepting front panels of the labels. Instead, they are asking for the UPC codes on back of the labels.
Please start sending the Box Tops and Soup Labels as soon as school starts. You can send them with your child on any day during the week or month. The Labels and Box Tops will be stored in a special box in your child’s classroom. We will collect them once a month, count them and reward the class with the highest number.
If you have any questions or if you would like to help please contact Kelly or Scott Magee.
Thank you very much for your support in making this another great Box Top/Label year!
