Welcome!
As the Mount Airy - Parr's Ridge Elementary School Parent/Teacher Association, we want to facilitate the growth and education of our children and we know that a team effort can bring that about for everyone! Please feel free to browse the site and contact us if you have any questions.
For more information about what we do and how to join, read our About the PTA page!
The "No-Bake Bake Sale" is here!
The "No-Bake Bake Sale" is to be the PTA's ONLY annual school-wide fundraiser for the 2011-12 year.
We have frequently been asked "Why are we always being asked to buy overpriced items for fundraisers?" or "Why can't I just give you the money you'd make in profit instead of having to buy something I don't really need"
The No-Bake Bake sale is our answer to those questions.
We are not asking you to spend the time and money to bake a cake or a pie. We are not asking you to pay above market price for fundraiser items so the PTA can get a small percentage.
Instead, we are simply asking for direct donations to support the PTA activities. Whether it's the equivalent of what you'd spend buying or making some baked goods, or how much you think you might spend on a fundraiser, or the value of something you might donate or buy at an auction, we just ask that you help us support the schools.
Go to the No-Bake Bake Sale page to find all the resources and information you need to get started. We can even accept on-line donations from this page.
We ask that you reach out to others in your family and in the community. Whomever you might have solicited for a fundraiser, please reach out to them and explain our new approach.
OUR GOAL: 1000 STUDENTS RAISING $50,000
Dates: September 17 - October 6
It's a Whole New PTA Website!
To better serve the needs of our community, the MAES/Parr's Ridge PTA website has been completely redesigned. Our hope is that the new site is easier to use, and provides better information than ever before.
As you can see, the look and feel of the main site has changed. The main Home page is simpler and less cluttered. Similar style changes have been made throughout the main pages of the site. This page is just the beginning.
However, the biggest change and most exicting change is that we have added a new PTA "Chalkboard" blog that greatly extends our capabilities with the website. The Chalkboard is where you will find PTA announcements and information as well as the PTA Calendar of Events. Chalkboard items are highlighted green in the main navigation menu. We hope this will allow even better communication between you and the PTA!
Because the The Chalkboard is set up as a blog, it allows you to provide feedback in the form of comments. This will allow you to interact more directly with the PTA Community. We have also included buttons to allow you to share the Chalkboard posts on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ so you can spread the word about PTA news that matters to you. You can see all the events occuring in the next few weeks with a quick glance at the sidebar of any Chalkboard page.
Please take a look around and let us know what you think.
What Does It Mean to Become a PTA "Member"?
As each new school year begins, the PTA asks all of the families to please join the PTA. Taking a few minutes to join the PTA simply means that you would like show your support for the schools and the PTA. All that is required to join is a membership fee of $10 per year (per family) and to complete the Membership Form. That's it!
There are no requirements for volunteering time or attending meetings (although we encourage you to do so, if you can!). So, please join our PTA, and thank you for helping us support our children and these wonderful schools!

Volunteer Training
Before you can volunteer in any Carroll County Public School, you must first attend annual training.  You must complete training at least seven(7) days before you wish to volunteer. And remember, YOU MUST RENEW YOUR VOLUNTEER ELIGIBILITY BY ATTENDING TRAINING EVERY SCHOOL YEAR
Check the Volunteer Information Page for dates and times of upcoming training dates at MAES and Parr's Ridge.  For additional information on volunteer training, contact Volunteer Coordinator Erica Zamensky.
