Parr's Ridge Morning Running Program

The morning running program at Parr’s Ridge Elementary School introduces our kids to the fun of running at a young age and is an exciting way to develop healthy habits that they will stick with for life. This year the program will run in the Fall for the 2nd graders, and then again in the Spring for the 1st and 2nd graders. Look for more information in the Spring about the Spring running program.

About the Fall running program:

Details - Students will run around the perimeter of the soccer field in the back of the school in the morning for about 15 minutes prior to the start of school. Students can choose to participate each week, or only on those days they would like.

Timing – Each Wednesday starting September 12th through Wednesday, October 24th.

Schedule - Students arrive at school and report to their classroom where they will be given a pass. Remember, students cannot be dropped off before 8:10 AM.

Attire - Students must wear sneakers or rubber soled shoes (no sandals, jellies, clogs, or crocs). Also, no baggy or oversized pants which could cause a fall. If a student is not appropriately dressed he/she will not be allowed to run.

Safety - Students will be checked in and out as they exit and enter the 2nd grade doors. Parent volunteers will be positioned at the doors and at intervals around the field just behind the school.

Participation - Please sign and return the permission slip below by Friday, September 8th if your child would like to participate.

Recognition – All students who participate will receive special recognition at the end of the program for their hard work!

Spring – We will continue the running program in the Spring. Look for more information in 2008!

Parent Volunteers:
We need parent volunteers to make the running program a success. You may volunteer each week or just a few weeks. You will need to report to the school around 8:05 AM to check-in, and we will be complete by 8:45 a.m. Remember, you must have completed a volunteer training session.
